The MIGS Annual Cross Country 2017/2018 event was held on the 13th of October 2017 at Lake Gardens, Kuala Lumpur. This event consisted of the Junior school, Senior school, staff, as well as parents, and like last year, the races were separated into gender and age categories, with the winners being awarded gold, silver, and bronze medals for their achievement. There was also a race at the end for the teachers and parents.
In preparation for this day, the students trained their cardiovascular endurance during their PE lessons; the students would run several laps around the school campus, with the number increasing each PE lesson. After weeks of sweating it out during our PE classes the students were finally ready for Cross Country.
Several buses departed MIGS at 7am, and brought all the students to the venue. Lake Gardens was filled with excitement as the students warmed up and prepared for their race. Sandwiches, bananas, and drinks were given by the canteen staff and, homemade smoothies, lemonade, banana bread, and oatmeal bars were sold by the Year 11 prom committee so that the students will be fuelled up before and after their races.
The students completed their race with the encouragement of their parents and friends, and the training of their PE teachers. Although not everybody received a medal for their effort, the students were still extremely pleased with their achievement of completing the race. As per usual, many pictures were taken, and many memories were made.
The buses left the stadium at around 12 noon after all the races were completed, marking the end of another successful Cross Country event of MIGS. – By Aisling Ong & Andre Gana, Sports Captains
