It’s good to be back at school after a long two month break, as I have been looking forward to meeting my friends and teachers. What’s exciting and daunting at the same time is my brother Safeer is starting in Year 1 in Mutiara and I feel very nervous for him: new school, new rules and new teachers. I hope he copes well. I’ll keep a look-out for him from time to time.
I see that there are lots of new teachers. Although I am missing my old teachers, I look forward to meeting and getting to know the new teachers. I know that they’re going to be great. I realise that this year I have two new subjects in Year 9, Malaysian History and Business Studies. I feel excited and look forward to the first lessons. I also feel worried. What if I don’t manage to meet my parents’ and teachers’ expectations? I know that they all have high expectations of me, likewise I do too. This year has brought a lot of new changes. I hope they all help make this school a better place. – By Shehreen Ahmed Islam, Year 9E
