Academic Advisors

The Academic Advisors of Mutiara are an independent part of the Governing Body. Their role is to add value to Mutiara’s academic curriculum by providing valuable expertise and feedback on educational processes, the curriculum, and guidance to the members. The advisors also serve a crucial role in making strategic alliances and connections that go beyond the boundaries of academics education to ensure that Mutiara provides a holistic well-rounded education. 

Professor Dato’ Dr. Chiam Heng Keng

Dato’ Dr. Chiam is a well-known educationalist, being the foremost authority on early childhood care and education in Malaysia. She has a Master of Education from the University of Sydney and a BSc (Hons.) in Chemistry from the University of Malaya. Formerly serving as a Professor of Social Psychology in Education at the University of Malaya, she is also the founder of the Bachelor and Master degree in early childhood education at the university. Prof. Chiam is currently a Human Rights Commissioner of Malaysia and a consultant to several governmental, non-governmental and private agencies.

Professor Dato’ Dr. Noraini Idris

Professor Dato’ Dr. Noraini holds a Ph.D. and an M.A. in Math Education from the Ohio State University in Ohio, United States of America, and a B.Sc. in Education (Hons.) from the University of Malaya. She has served for more than 10 years at the University of Malaya, holding the position of Head of Department of Mathematics and Science Education, moving on to being the Dean at the Faculty of Education and culminating as Deputy Vice Chancellor of Research and Innovation. Professor Dato’ Dr. Noraini is an authority on teaching and learning methodologies and has a plethora of publications to her name. She is also a much sought-after presenter and keynote speaker at numerous international and national conferences on teaching and learning methodologies. She has received multiple awards and recognition for her achievements and contributions to teaching and learning, specifically in the field of mathematics, science, invention, and innovation.
